Why Blessing God's Way...
There are many contributors to the deception surrounding women's beautifully designed bodies. Different cultures and belief systems carry myths and folklore that scare and oppress women into helplessness and even ignorance. Even in the family unit, where we are supposed to be nurtured and protected, many women receive the wrong messages about their body and its purpose. This negativity grows as girls mature and they find they are ill-equipped or afraid to teach the truth to their daughters.
As some women struggle to regain some of their God-given heritage, there is little help to be found in the educational field and neighborhood communities. In the church, families are instructed in the ways of righteousness, but there is little to no discussion of the female body and its design. This leaves many women to turn to the culture and the media for their answers about their life stages. From a young girl’s coming-of-age, to her body's wonderful design in childbirth, to the blessed mentoring stages of menopause, a woman needs to have accurate, truthful information. The time has come for an organization to step into the gap and equip women with the wonderful truths of God's word, which will lead them to discover the beautiful symbolism in the design of their bodies! By learning about womanhood through scripture, women will be enabled to become mentors for the next generation!
Blessing God's Way seeks to provide communities with the tools to proclaim the amazing message of God's wondrous creation of the human body. We seek to be an international, non-denominational standard for implementing resources on the three branches of womanhood: Maidenhood, Maternity, and Menopause. Our hope is to see our culture recognize the importance of proclaiming God as the creator of women's cycles and educating women on His design.
The book of Nehemiah paints a beautiful picture of restoration, as we see a figurative picture of what rebuilding womanhood may look like for us today.
“And they said to me, ‘The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.’” - Nehemiah 1:3
What imagery of the corruption and breakdown of womanhood today, a picture of the hearts of so many women that are left desolate, confused and alone! But wait! Nehemiah points us to what we ought to do in the face of desolation. In v. 4 the Bible goes on to say “I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.”
As we recognize the implications of what has become of generations of women after listening to the culture instead of the word of God, may the church body begin to see the beauty of mourning and turning away from our ignorance and start to look toward God for the answers women are waiting to hear. The church has the unparalleled opportunity to point women to God as their designer and Father.
Nehemiah 1:9 says, “but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.” This verse is full of the hope that comes from our loving, covenant-keeping God. Women of all ages who have been left with the media and culture to show them how to care for their bodies can rest assured of the hope that lies in our God and His truth. We can rescue them and point them to this truth!
Join us in making God's name dominant in the areas of menstruation, maternity and menopause. We are developing resources that will enable the men who lead our churches and homes to point their wives and daughters to the Lord for not only their spiritual needs, but for their understanding of their physical bodies as well.
Let us together rebuild the broken walls of womanhood in our churches, and ultimately in our culture. We desire for God to “set His name” on this area of women’s lives, that we may testify of His goodness, His creation and His design. Look at Chapter 2 of Nehemiah, where he is downcast and sad over the condition of Jerusalem…
“Then I said to them, ‘You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies in waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.’”- Nehemiah 2:17
Likewise, we mourn over the way that women view, dread and curse their own bodies today. Just as Nehemiah beseeched the king in vv.5-9 and begs of him his resources, we also make a plea to all those that grace the name of Jesus Christ with their lips to find favor with this ministry and join us.
As Christians, we have handed over the minds and bodies of our wives and daughters, mothers and sisters to secular society. We have yielded to the world and its lies. But the people will not remain in reproach. In Nehemiah it reads: “So they said, ‘Let us rise up and build.’ Then they set up their hands to this good work.”- Nehemiah 2:18b Will you help us rebuild?
Wherever darkness is penetrated by the light God will be glorified. What an opportunity to raise the banner of the name of our LORD GOD and bring glory to Him. There is no better time than this to reclaim God’ design for women!
Just as Nehemiah faced the opposition of Sanballat the Horonite, and others accompanying him, so we also must be prepared for what may lie ahead as we seek to proclaim God’s truth and implement these tools and resources in our churches and communities. Here we see how Nehemiah responds and where he places his trust and faith:
“So I answered them, and said to them, ‘THE GOD OF HEAVEN HIMSELF WILL PROSPER US; THEREFORE WE HIS SERVANTS WILL ARISE AND BUILD [emphasis added], but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem.’”- Nehemiah 2:20
Likewise, does the god of this world, Satan, have any right or portion or memorial here among God’s people? Should he be the one with the reins on our women today? Should he be the one whispering into the ears of the women in our churches and communities? The young girls coming of age? Absolutely not! But the God of eternity, whose name is above all names, whose name will never perish, it is He who deserves all honor, glory and praise! We are His design and we should learn of His design and glorify Him for it!
“For the people had a mind to work”- Nehemiah 4:6b
Here, Nehemiah illustrates how EVERYONE contributed and built, and worked to repair the wall until the job was done. In Chapter 4:16-18, it describes how everyone wrought in the work, with theirs weapons in hand. They built and fought the enemy at the same time, as we ought to do. The Bible tells us that our battle is not with flesh and blood, but with spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph. 6:12). Certainly we can say the same for what we face today as we seek to honor God in His beautiful and wonderful design for women’s bodies.
How does Blessing God's Way Fit into this biblical picture of rebuilding?
As we have embraced our busy cultural norms, women long to be able to experience the hospitality and service that we have lost much of today. Blessing Gods Way works as a catalyst to restore these valued virtues to women and families. Each aspect of our ministry gives the opportunity for women to serve other women. Taking the Titus 2 model, women in each “branch” or season of womanhood can work to help others.
For example, in the Maidenhood branch they can become Mentors, helping teach the young ladies in the classes how they can serve women as well as help equip and disciple them along to move to the next level, Maternity. In the Maternity season, we show them that they can mentor even more by considering teaching Childbirth Education, leading bible studies for pregnant couples, being a Doula (literally “female servant” in the Greek), and/or teaching classes. In Menopause, these “seasoned” women have the opportunity to continue to mentor by perhaps leading a Maidenhood course, a Maternity course or home group, and or be a representative in her church or community and provide that shepherding role to the younger women. The young ladies, just learning how to mentor at an early age will have something to strive to achieve– a way that they can continue to grow and serve God’s kingdom over the years. Just think of the support our women would have in our churches and communities if this was implemented! Most women want to mentor some how, but are not sure how.
Ladies, there is an avenue! Finally we have a light that can shine through the darkness of our culture, through the ministry of Blessing God's Way!
